Niti Aayog’s CEO, Amitabh Kant, feels that India is transitioning towards urbansiation and feels that the country should be ready to adopt smart, electric and connected vehicles.
He predicts that in the next 3-4 years the price of Li-ion batteries would come down to $76 per kilowatt/hour from the current price of $276 per kilowatt/hour. That’s when the price of battery-operated vehicles will be at par with the fuel-powered cars and the country will be able to save nearly USD 111 billion spent on oil imports.
He also emphasized the need to create an urbanization model where we recycle water, waste and have ample public transport.
