Exposed personal data of Bangladeshi citizens removed from the government website

  • The Bangladeshi government rectified a data leak issue on its Office of the Registrar General, Birth & Death Registration website.
  • Sensitive information of around 50 million citizens was exposed including names, phone numbers, emails, and national IDs.
  • The breach was detected by a Cyber Security researcher and addressed by the e-Government Computer Incident Response Team (CIRT), while law enforcement agencies are investigating the incident.
