Rocket Internet’s FabFurnish Opens Its Second Partnership Store In Bangalore

Online furnishing store FabFurnish.com has launched its offline partner store in Bangalore. The Gurgaon based e-tailer backed by Rocket Internet went live in early 2012.

The online retailer which sells home furnishing products including furniture, lighting, decor and others shifted to a hybrid or store in store model i.e. consisting of online & offline presence. It opened its first partnership store in Gurgaon in November 2012. It’s sort of a franchise model where company shares its brand and credibility and local partners take care of investments and logistics, though these conditions may vary depending upon the parent firm.

The portals third store will be launched in Faridabad soon according to the website.Fabfurnish

The online venture provides free pan India shipping for products other than furniture and lightning and which are above Rupees 500. Shipping charges vary per the item in case of furniture or lightening products.

The portal is not the first  to capitalize on this hybrid model. Tele shopping ecommerce company Homeshop 18 launched a ‘Virtual shopping wall’ at the domestic terminal of Delhi International Airport earlier this year.

Last year, baby and kid’s products e-tailer FirstCry.com has established a network of offline stores across country. In November 2012, it had more than 26 stores in 11 states. Soon it is launching 3 more stores in Aurangabad, Ahmednagar and Bijapur.

There are number of Indian ecommerce brands into this home decor category. Urban Ladder, Zansaar, bedbathmore, TheHomeLabel and many others have offerings in this niche category.

Home products (Furniture & hard furnishings) is estimated to be around $20 by by 2015 and $30 bn by 2020.
