‘Instant Articles’ was previously launched in the US and Europe; it is designed for markets with less or limited internet connectivity. The ‘instant’ nature of publishing will allow readers with 2G connectivity (or low connectivity) to seamlessly browse articles on Facebook news feed itself.

The feature will also offer a collection of story-telling tools that publishers can use to make articles more engaging and rich. Selected publishers’ posts will appear on news feeds with High-Resolution pictures along with interactive features such as auto-play videos, maps, and listenable audio captions.

“We’ve been beta testing Instant Articles for Android with a small group of people on Facebook for several weeks, and as we saw on iPhone, the faster, richer reading experience inspires people on Android to share Instant Articles with their friends more often than they do with standard web articles,” said Facebook in a blog post
