Fame II to boost electric scooter adoption

The second phase of FAME scheme from the Government offers subsidies for battery operated scooters in India. Further 7% drop in GST will also help in faster adoption of electric two-wheelers.

Electric two-wheelers with 50% localization, a minimum range of 80Kms per charge and a minimum top speed of 40kmph among others are a few qualifying conditions for FAME II incentives.

Companies like Okinawa, Ather Energy and Yulu are the first few companies to have got relevant certifications and subsidies.

Vehicles with lead-acid batteries do not get any subsidies under the Govt. scheme.
