Facebook has requested the Supreme Court to transfer the pending case around WhatsApp traceability. The case is currently being heard by Madras High court and is due for a hearing today.
Facebook has not revealed where it wants the case to be transferred to.
That case is about looking at ways to increase the accountability of the messaging platform. While the original petition sought for Aadhar based profile verifications, the Madras High Court is now further looking for ways to control cybercrime and fake news.
WhatsApp, however, is against the user traceability feature, citing privacy policies.
