Flipkart Hikes Affiliate Fee; Now Upto 10% for Most Categories: Amazon Effect?

Ecommerce store is increasing payouts to its affiliates for the month of July, the company has said.

“We will be offering you significantly higher referral payouts in July across all categories on the Flipkart.com Marketplace,” said Flipkart in an e-mail to affiliates.

The new payouts are significantly higher than existing referral pay. For instance, if an affiliate sells a book on Flipkart, the new referral payout is 10% as opposed to 6% it is offering currently. Mobiles and tablets have gone up from 1% to 5% and Gaming, Audio and MP3 Players have gone up from 1% to 10%. Flipkart Affiliate Fee

Flipkart has also added an “Offers Zone” where the best deals on the site are curated.

In what is perceived as a threat to Indian ecommerce companies such as Flipkart & Snapdeal, American ecommerce giant Amazon recently launched in India. Amazon’s affiliate program in India has considerably higher payouts. Amazon pays out up to 10% commission to affiliates on each sale. In comparison, existing e-commerce players only pay out 5-7% as commissions.
