Flipkart to Launch Grocery Business

flipkart-logoFlipkart is all set to join the line of grocery selling business from the second half of this year.
The new grocery wing is expected to be launched as an in-house operation, entering into a direct competition with online grocery selling platforms such as Big Basket, ZopNow and LocalBanya.
Experts opined that online grocery will become one of the top three most attractive segments for online retailers, after electronics and apparel. It looks like Flipkart’s tough rivals have taken this advice far ahead as Amazon launched ‘Kirana Now’, an express delivery platform partnered with mom-and-pop stores (currently running a pilot study in Bangalore).
Snapdeal has tied up with food retailer Godrej Nature’s Basket in January to sell about 400 of its products online, with one day delivery option.
