Flipkart has announced that it has crossed 150 million products in sales so far. The company has witnessed a 150% growth in the number of products sold in 2015 when compared to sales during the same period last year.
Fashion & lifestyle, home and consumer electronics are among the top selling categories on Flipkart, with Bangalore, New Delhi, Chennai, Pune, Coimbatore and Ahmedabad being the top cities in terms of driving sales.
The company currently has over 30 million products across 70+ categories. In a little over 8 years Flipkart has over 45 million registered users and the platform clocks over 10 million daily visits.
Flipkart is now aiming to grow scale to selling 1 billion products a year and is constantly onboarding new sellers and categories in order to realize this. Moreover, majority of its users are on mobile, with 75% traffic being driven by smartphones.
Myntra, the Flipkart owned fashion portal, has already shut its website and has gone app-only. Flipkart too is rumoured to go app-only by September this year, but questions remain about how that could hurt the company.
The company is looking at having 1 lakh sellers on its platform by the end of 2015, up from the current strength of 30,000. Flipkart is adding categories such as home & furnishings, maternity, etc.
