The Bangalore-based e-commerce giant announced that it recorded unit sales of 15.5 million compared with 15 million units for Amazon India, and 11 million units for Snapdeal, sealing a top spot in the Indian online retail industry.
Flipkart’s numbers is a combination of products sold on Flipkart, Myntra, and Jabong platforms, while Amazon was able to clock that number on its single platform.
According to the company, Smartphones and televisions made up to most of the sales this season. Flipkart also took a jibe at rival Amazon, remarking that it had sold actual goods, instead of “selling eggs and detergent bar”. Amazon had claimed to have sold a large quantity of consumable products, including detergents, spices, and groceries.
