Flipkart to incentivize merchants for offering additional discounts

While the government is trying to prohibit foreign-owned e-commerce marketplaces from offering predatory discounts, Flipkart has devised an alternate method to keep these promotional tactics going.

In a new optional program, Flipkart offers merchants up to 50% non-cash value back on its fees. This option will be available to vendors who agree to offer an additional 5% discount to Flipkart Plus customers.

To be eligible for this opt-in offer, the merchants need to ensure less than 0.5% cancellations during the promotion period.

Earlier, Union Minister Piyush Goyal reiterated that India will not allow multi-brand retail and will continue to protect small offline merchants.
