IIT students can’t be selling detergents. Has to have higher purpose: Pranab Mukherjee

Former Indian President Pranab Mukherjee has voiced his opinion about the current state of the Indian education system. He felt that an IIT graduate should serve larger purposes rather than being involved in the sale of detergents at MNCs.

The former president urged the institutes to build excellence and help students in fostering research. He said that overseas students should come to India for higher studies, rather than Indians going abroad for the same.

He also mentioned that India has not had any Nobel Laureate for basic research in the last 70 years.
