Now Airtel prepaid subscribers access Facebook from a choice of 9 regional Indian languages. The service which will be offered free of cost for a limited period with a cap of 30 MB/ month.
The service will allow users to post status updates, comment and write on walls and more in Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada or Malayalam.
The service can be accessed across interfaces compatible with Feature, Java, Android, iPhone and Windows devices. Existing users can avail the facility by visiting m.facebook.com on their mobiles, while first time users must register at m.facebook.com.
The move is one among a series that Airtel has taken this year to boost demand for its data services. The telecom provider had doubled its 3G customers in October this year with free schemes. Previously, the company had offered users free services to access Gmail, Google+ and Google Search and the use of Hike Messenger.
