Few weeks back, we covered EasySign’s different pricing strategy for iOS and Android app store. The EasySign app lets you sign documents, draw signatures freehand and is a great utility for those who need to sign documents from their devices (i.e. no printing, scanning and faxing) . The app followed freemium pricing in Apple appstore, but the team was charging USD 9.99 (INR 490.47) for the Android app (i.e. paid). But founder, Sunil Patro has now shared that the app (link) is now available on freemium model even on Android app store.
So why this change of strategy?
Tells Sunil:
We had already learnt from our iOS App what freemium model could do to a good app. By making our iOS App freemium, we had increased our daily downloads to 50x in a week. Hence, we are applying the same lesson to Android.
I also like to mention one drawback to freemium model that if you are planning to sell your freemium app on multiple appstores such as Google Android Marketplace, Amazon AppStore, GetJar and etc, you have to implement multiple in-app-billing (IAB) methods starting from Google’s IAB, Amazon’s IAB and paypal in contrast to just one in Apple’s Appstore.
The key now is to have a unified viewof EasySign app/data across devices.
