The much-awaited Samsung Galaxy Nexus is scheduled for launch on November 17th and while Google/Samsung hasn’t yet announced launch plans for India, there is a ray of hope if you look at Google India’s Nexus page (http://www.google.co.in/nexus).
While this could be a standard practice (to create country specific pages), one would expect Samsung(s) of the world to act where Apple has failed (by choice). Apple treats India as dumping ground, but for Samsung it’s one of the most important markets (read: Tablet Market Share In India – Samsung Rules The Chart).
The Rajnikanth styled ‘I am late, but still latest’ works only for iDevices and Samsung(s ) of the world do not have the luxury to create buzz and monetize later (this is a mistake Nokia has been committing for many years).
As far as Galaxy Nexus is concerned, the phone is more about Android 4.0 and less about Samsung as specifications aren’t as impressive as rumoured (5MP camera/1.2GHz) – so maybe, it’s in Google’s interest also to push the India agenda?
What’s your opinion? How much are you willing to shell out for Galaxy Nexus? INR 40,000?
