Chinese phone maker Gionee has entered the Indian smartphone market with the Dream D1, and iBall forays into the education space with the iBall Edu-Slide i-1017.

Chinese mobile phone maker Gionee has launched the Dream D1 in the Indian market for Rs 17,999.

The Dream D1 is a dual-SIM smartphone that has a 4.65-inch Super AMOLED Plus HD (1280×720 pixels) display and is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Cortex A7 processor, PowerVR Series5XT GPU and 1GB RAM. The phone also has a 8-megapixel rear camera with support for 720p video recording. The front camera is a VGA one. It features 4GB of internal memory which can be expanded up to 32GB. It is powered by a 2,100mAH battery. The phone runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

This phone will face tough competition against the Micromax Canvas HD and LAVA Q800 which will have better local support.

iBall Launches the iBall Edu-Slide i-1017

iBall has now entered the education tablet space. Its latest tablet, the iBall Edu-Slide i-1017 has a 10.1-inch screen that comes with a resolution of 1280X800 and is priced at Rs 12,999.

It is powered by a dual-core Cortex A9 processor clocked at 1.5 GHz along with G400 Mali graphic processor and has 1 GB RAM. It runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. It comes with 8 GB of internal storage, which can be expanded to 32 GB via a microSD card. It features a 2-megapixel rear camera and a VGA front camera.

The tablet comes loaded with educational material by eTeach. The content is for students from standard I to XII for both CBSE and SSC (Maharashtra) English medium schools. The tablet also offers Marathi medium content of SSC students from standards V to X. While you can get only one standard course material for free, consumers will be able to get one more standard’s course material if they buy the tablet before April 15.

The tablet will go up against other tablets in the market like Micromax Funbook Pro, Funtab Fit, HCL MeTab U1 and also the Aakash tablets.
