Gionee has unveiled two new smartphones – the Elife E8 and Marathon M5 – in Beijing at 3999 RMB (approx Rs 41,200) and 2299 RMB (approx Rs 23,700) respectively.
Both devices are loaded to the brim with features, with the Elife E8’s 24MP primary camera and Marathon M5’s 6,000mAh battery being the biggest standouts.
Gionee’s Elife series have been renowned for their style and camera performance and this year’s E8 doesn’t disappoint. The 24MP snapper manages to produce lossless images at 3X zoom, while the front-facing camera has a resolution of 8MP.
The device features a massive 6-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1440 x 2540 pixels. Powering the device is a 2.0Ghz octa-core MediaTek processor that’s coupled to 3GB of RAM while on board storage stands at 64GB.
Other hardware features include dual-SIM (dual LTE) capabilities, NFC a fingerprint scanner, dual speakers and a 3,500mAh battery. In terms of software, the Elife E8 runs on Google’s Android 5.1 Lollipop with the company’s proprietary Amigo 3.1 skin on top.
As its name suggests, the Marathon M5 is all about long-lasting battery performance. The device’s 6,000mAh battery can apparently last a good 4 days of use and has an extreme mode in which it boasts of 62 hours of standby with just 5% charge.
The M5 features a 5.5-inch Super Amoled HD display with a resolution of 720×1280 pixels. Powering the device is a quad-core MediaTek chip coupled to 2GB of RAM with 16GB of onboard storage.
Other features include a 12MP primary camera and a 5MP front-facing unit. The M5 is a dual-SIM device supporting LTE on both chips and runs Google’s Android Lollipop software.
