There are always two sides of the coin. There is always a trade-off. What could be the boon, is also your bane. Technology companies have finally woken up to this reality, when the dog has been unleashed in their own backyard, albeit in only one but perhaps the most important domain.
Google and Microsoft both in their recent 10-K filings at SEC have warned their investors that artificial intelligence could lead to technological, ethical and legal challenges. And these challenges could adversely affect the brand reputation and revenues.
Microsoft has been more explicit, going to the extent of admitting that AI algorithms are flawed and datasets are often biased.
As far as AI is concerned the two companies are no more the technological leaders with the BAT consortium from China leading the pack, and it makes a prudent call to include lack of omni-potent technology as a ‘risk factor’.
