Google discontinued Chromecast’s Wi-Fi-independent Guest Mode

  • Google eliminated the guest mode feature that allowed casting on Chromecast devices without connecting to the host’s Wi-Fi.
  • Previously, this feature worked via a specially emitted Wi-Fi and Bluetooth beacon and a 4-digit PIN.
  • The removal of this feature now requires guests to connect to the host’s network to cast content from their devices.
