Google Fit Learns New Tricks; Can Now Estimate Distance & Calories Burned

Google has updated its fitness and activity tracking app Google Fit with the ability to estimate the distance traveled by a user as well as the number of calories burned.
Google-Fit-1The app previously could only detect the number of steps taken by a user while walking, running or cycling through the day or during a workout.
All users have to do is update their profiles to include their gender, height and weight in order to know how far they’ve gone and how many calories they’ve burned.

Further, Google has also changed the way users can see their fitness history – scrolling down users can get a better sense of how their activity has impacted their fitness over time.

Users will also be able to quickly glance at their day’s fitness and activity data through the Google Fit widget on their smartphone or Android Wear watchface.
