Google has announced the launch of Purchase on Google which will allow consumers to buy products directly from mobile search ads.
The feature will essentially place a ‘Buy’ button on some of the ads users see in their search results. Hitting it will direct users to a Google-hosted page where they can actually buy the product.
Fulfillment of orders will still be handled by the merchant with Google only making the process of buying more seamless. Moreover, Google’s purchase pages will carry merchant branding and will even allow customers to browse other products.
The company is testing the feature with retail partners over the next few weeks and will then make the feature more broadly available to sellers in the US. It isn’t expected that the feature will make a debut in International markets before 2016.
