Google Now, the Internet search giant’s digital assistant, will soon be able to pull data from all apps and services its customers make use of.
The company plans to expand the pilot program that currently works with 40 third-party apps, and will eventually provide an open API.
Google started off by simply guessing what information a user might find useful, but has been surveying users to find out what information is important at a particular point of time.
Moreover, throwing up information from rivaling services would be defined by a person’s app usage patterns, and not just the company’s whims and fancy.
The Google Now team over the next 6-12 months will work to better marry Google’s understanding of the world, with personal circumstances of the users.
