- Google announced plans for Chrome to operate ‘HTTPS by default’, as more than 90% of user navigations on major platforms have been to HTTPS sites.
- As part of safety measures, Chrome plans to upgrade to HTTPS-First Mode by default, and enable warnings for high-risk files downloaded over insecure connections.
- The HTTPS-First Mode will initially be available to users of the Advanced Protection Program, and will soon be the default in Incognito Mode.
