I was driving down Greater Kailash area (GK – I, Delhi) last week and got to capture this: A Google Street View car struggling out of the traffic in Delhi. Well, nay, let me rephrase that – struggling through the battle of traffic in Delhi.
It is not a far cry to assume that the traffic conditions in Delhi are among the worst in the world, and yet believe me or not Delhi does sit on the top of the pyramid w.r.t. technology provisions as compared to other Indian cities. Now ain’t that a bitch?
Some infrastructure work during Common Wealth event did Delhi good, but even today one can see there are billboards, posters and sign boards spread across the city claiming – Commonwealth Sports, 2010! This potentially creates confusion for the new visitors/tourists into the city.
What makes me wonder is how much these traffic woes can raise the cost for Google Street View project. And say after completion of project – i.e. after tracing all the streets of Delhi, what percentage of our screen will show as streets, and what percentage as vehicles? 🙂
Any clues?
