Google has announced the expansion of Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) for mobile search results in India. AMP is an open source project by the tech giant designed as an open standard for publishers to have pages load quickly on mobile devices. This doesn’t change Search results but will show you which sites have pages that are ready to load lightning fast. Users will get to see a label that indicates a page is AMP’d.
AMP also helps save data as AMP pages on Search use 10 times less data than the equivalent non-AMP page. Today, the median time it takes for an AMP page to load from Google Search is less than one second, the company said. In India, Zomato, News 18, NDTV and Aaj Tak are some of the companies, who have embraced AMP.
