To encourage international patents for indigenous innovations in IT and electronics space, Ministry of Information Technology has been offering financial support under the scheme: SIP-EIT (Support International Patent Protection in Electronics & IT).
The Scheme Supports International Patent Protection in Electronics & IT by SMEs(Small and Medium Enterprises) and Technology Start-Up Companies. Under this scheme, SMEs and Technology Start-up units will be reimbursed upto 50% of actual costs, up to a maximum of Rs.15 lakhs per application, incurred in filing international patent applications in Electronics and ICT domain for their indigenous inventions. Through this scheme DIT aims to encourage indigenous innovation and enable the companies to capture global opportunities in the area of Electronics and Information Technology.
Scheme reimburses part of costs incurred by MSMEs and Technology Startups in filing International Patent Applications.
Key highlights of the scheme
Eligibility: Registered Indian Micro, Small and Medium enterprises (MSMEs), DSIR Certified companies, and incubates at technology incubators are eligible to apply for the scheme.
Sector: IT and Electronics
Financial aid available: Grant of upto 50% of the total patent costs not exceeding 15 lakh rupees
