Government requests feedback on draft amendment to remove “fake” PIB content

The government has released a draft amendment to the IT Rules to remove content flagged as false by the Press Information Bureau (PIB).
The Editors Guild of India has urged the government to “expunge” the draft amendment and asked social media companies to take down news articles deemed “fake” by the PIB.
The government is now requesting feedback on the draft amendment.
