Government’s unused electric cars to be leased to ride-hailing companies

The Indian government is seeking to lease out its unused electric cars to ride-hailing companies like Ola, Meru Cabs and Uber, etc.

These cars were initially meant to be integrated into government fleets, however, amid delays Energy Efficiency Services Ltd has offered to lease these cars to various cab companies. Out of 10000 cars supposed to be integrated into the government fleet, only 1000 cars have been utilized since 2017.

Blu-Smart Mobility has already agreed to lease 500 cars earlier this month. These cars will be able to use the 100 charging stations which the agency will set up in different cities.
