The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) on Thursday launched an online portal, with a mobile application, dedicated to startups, as part of its ‘Startup India’ initiative.
Apart from providing up-to- date information on various notifications/ circulars issued by various government ministries/ departments, the portal and mobile app will also provide information regarding incubators and funding agencies recognized for the purpose of recommending startups, said Secretary, DIPP, Ramesh Abhishek.
DIPP has also released a FAQs list, which defines what a ‘startup’ is and companies that fulfill the criteria are also eligible to avail tax benefits.
A single page application form has been made available on both the portal and the mobile, along with the formats of the recommendation/ support letters that need to be attached as part of the form.
Abhishek said that a real-time recognition certificate is provided to startups on completion of the application process and a request for a certificate of eligibility for tax benefits from Inter-ministerial Board will be made simultaneously by selection of a simple option.
Also, the site will feature the Startup India Hub, established within Invest India, which will be a single point of contact for the ecosystem, which would enable exchange of knowledge. “This will work in a hub and spoke model with governments, VCs, angel funds, incubators, mentors. It will assist start-ups through their lifecycle, on all aspects, such as providing mentorship, incubator facilities, IPR support, funding,” he said.
