Govt preparing to fine social media influencers Rs 50 lakh if they don’t disclose paid promotions

Consumer Affairs Ministry is implementing new regulations that require influencers to tell their followers if they have received compensation for promoting the products they are showing on their accounts.

A complaint can be lodged against influencers to the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) if they don’t disclose to their followers that they are engaged in proxy paid promotion.
