Groupon India, i.e. SoSasta’s database was hacked last weekend and the damage is far serious than what you could have imagined – the database included 300,000 login ids and passwords (stored in clear text) and importantly, these login/passwords have been indexed by Google as well.
Coming back to the context of this post, we were tipped that Groupon’s logo is now missing from SoSasta website.
Apart from logo, even mention of Groupon has been taken away from SoSasta’s footer section. While this could be a pure coincidence, this could also mean that Groupon is rethinking India strategy (and maybe the decision to acquire SoSasta)? Or maybe Groupon is closing on the Groupon.in domain legal tussle and will launch with the ‘Groupon’ brand name?
