Startup Accelerator, GSF, has announced the launch of their fourth location and investment cycle in Chennai, starting April 2013. With the opening of their new location, GSF will make its presence felt in all key tech hubs of India.
As a part of this new launch in Chennai, GSF will be selecting four most promising companies in the Tamil Nadu for its 9-week acceleration program. Each selected company will receive initial funding of $28,000 and the support from GSF’s angel network.
Teaming up with GSF will be Bharatmatrimony.com and Chennai Angels, wo will provide the selected startups with mentorship, co-location space and related services. GSF’s international partners include Seedcamp and Dave McClure’s 500Startups.
Recent Action in Accelerator Space in India
The past year, 2012, was a very eventful for the Indian startup ecosystem, with the launch of new startups, several incubators and accelerators The startup ecosystem also began to receive much more coverage and wider acceptance from mainstream media.
We saw 500startups entry into the Indian startup scene and the launch of their $5mn StartupWallah fund.
Recently The Morpheus added 12 new startups to its kitty and VentureNursery announced its second batch of startups.
Microsoft Accelerator launched its incubator in India, and they plans to double their intake in 2013.
GSF is hiring four new Chennai-based entrepreneurs in residence, to help them with the selection process. Beginning March, startups can start submitting the applications.
