Gurgaon is all set to get GPS based vegetable vendors from January 14th. Launched by Adarsha Thoughtworks, the first set of 30 outlets by January and will use alternate technology to preserve vegetables and fruits (technology incubated by National Innovation Foundation).
What’s so special about these devices?
They are fitted with GPS devices and will be run by a central control room in Jaipur and operated by women entrepreneurs who will be trained to run the software as well as hardware (the company is working with NGOs to identify women SHGs).
“With 150 in Gurgaon and 1500 in Delhi and NCR, we plan to launch over 25,000 mobile kiosks in 25 cities in a span of one year. The project will provide self-employment to 9,000 micro-entrepreneurs. The pushcarts will also double up as `Mobile Citizen Service Centres’ where citizens can submit and collect various forms and documents related to the civic body.” – source
