HDFC Bank To Enter Recharge Business, Introduces ‘Missed Call’ Recharge Service

HDFC Bank is reportedly planning to launch a mobile recharge service wherein customers can recharge their phones by just giving a missed call to the bank.

Customers need to first register their numbers with the lender in order to authorise the amount to perform a recharge. A missed call to a specified number will completer the transaction, and the amount debited from the bank accordingly.

HDFC Bank Logo“We are looking at lunching this service in the next two-three months. At present we will be offering it only for bank customers. Going ahead we may look at offering it even to the credit card customers,” said Nitin Chugh, head-digital banking, HDFC.

The average mobile recharge ticket size for prepaid continues to be less than Rs 100, therefore the minimum amount of recharge has been kept limited to Rs 10 and the maximum up to Rs 250, by the bank. Users can add up to three members of the family on this service.
