Helion Ventures Invests in Getit Yellow Pages

Helion Ventures has invested Rs. 20 Crores, i.e. ~$4mn in Getit yellow pages, a local information provider.

Getit is one of the oldest players in yellow pages market and as far as I know, they have a better FoS (Feet on Street) presence than Justdials of the world.

The funding will be used to expand across different access points (web/mobile). Getit’s local search product has partnered with MapMyIndia for map information and the product, at this stage is quite buggy to use.

At the same time, they have got data categorization very well executed and to me, this is one serious player that can potentially change the market.

Some of the recent developments in local search space:

  • Web18 to launch local search service
  • Yahoo India invested in CallEzee
  • AskLaila partnered with Airtel – for Airtel Live and DTH service

What’s your take on local search space? Who is the strongest of them all?
