Use Hike Messenger On Airtel For 90 Days Without Data Charges

hike airtelHike, the free social messaging app, has announced zero data charges on Airtel for 3 months on hike messenger usage. Airtel prepaid customers in India can download and use the app for 3 months without paying any data charges.

Hike, is headed by Kavin Bharti Mittal, son of Bharti Enterprises chairman Sunil Mittal. Kavin heads strategy and new product development at Bharti SoftBank.

The app was launched in December last year by Bharti SoftBank, a joint venture between Bharti Enterprises and Japan’s SoftBank Corp. Softbank had invested $7 million in the app company which claimed to have crossed 5 million users since its launch in December last year.

Earlier this year, hike released a new version with support for Spanish, French, Russian, and Portuguese besides English and German.

Back in June this year Bharti Airtel and search giant Google have announced a new scheme under which Airtel customers will have free access to mobile web search and feature phone friendly version of Gmail and Google+ in India. To access the free zone, users had to key in on their browser. After searching the first page of a website linked from search results is provided at no data cost.

Similarly in July, Wikipedia had begun rolling out Wikipedia zero in India on Aircel networks. Under this scheme users had access to Wikipedia from mobile for free. For starters, free access to Wikipedia is only for Aircel.
