ibibo currently boasts of 3.3mn users and is targeting 10mn by 2011.
The portal, started as a pure social network (around blogs etc) changed its positioning to a talent showcasing social network and partnered with MTV and even other TV channels to launch contests.
Essentially, ibibo gives access to established names (like photographer Daboo Ratnani, Jatin Kampani,choreographers Bosco-Ceaser etc) via contests held at the site; and serves as a way to bypass the long queues.
The bigger question for ibibo is on user engagement– many of the users register @ ibibo to participate in the contest – how many of these users are still active once the contest is over?
Infact, is there a social graph building up at ibibo (well you need one if you are a socionet)?
