After Airtel, Vodafone, Aircel and Reliance, both BSNL and Idea Cellular have announced the launch of an app store. Idea Cellular is launching an app store based on Ericsson’s eStore solution, while BSNL has partnered with Accenture for the same.
Using Ericsson’s business model that features Software as a Service, Idea will be able to set up a mobile application market and easily introduce new services to their subscribers. The ecosystem between Idea and Ericsson will support a developer community, thereby bringing richer, more relevant and better applications and games to the subscribers. 84 million Idea customers will enjoy 30,000 applications suited to most handsets and wallets, said the press release.
BSNL is launching an app store in partnership with Accenture for the development of app store. The application store would allow its customers to download applications from a portfolio of around 3400 applications of various genres.
Accenture is even testing out its own enterprise app store.
