A team of students and professors at IIT-Kharagpur has launched DESHLA, a three-wheeled electric vehicle. This highlight of this zero-emission city passenger vehicle is that it can be charged at home and its battery can last up to 7 years.
The team claims that this vehicle is low on maintenance compared to the lead-acid battery-powered e-rickshaws. DESHLA is powered by an LI-ion battery and has embedded and power electronics subsystems such as battery management system, motor controller, battery charger, GPS and 3G cellular connectivity modules.
The team is looking for angel funding to start commercial production of the vehicle.
