Students of IIT Madras have developed a technology called “Eye in the sky” which will use drones to help in disaster relief and surveillance.
The team is now developing an end-to-end solution which includes drones embedded with this technology to identify and help people trapped in disaster hit areas. The solution also finds a use case with Air Force, Army and NGOs for aerial surveillance, navigation and offer medical help to trapped citizens.
Companies like Microsoft and Lockheed Martin have recognised the role of this technology in humanitarian and disaster management.
