Union minister Nitin Gadkari re-emphasised that there is no requirement of a setting a timeline to switch to electric vehicles, both for the consumers and manufacturers.
The deadline of banning ICE vehicles by 2025 and 2023 for two wheelers and three wheelers has been diluted and the transition to zero-emission vehicle will be natural, he added.
He mentioned that if an economical, convenient and pollution free option is available, consumers will automatically choose it. He said that we expect that the cost of EVs will come down once companies focus on domestic production, which will also make India a hub for EVs in coming years.
