IIT M and IISC have partnered to build the world’s cheapest laptop – that will be priced at $10! $100 (see below for details)

For the $100 laptop, research is being carried at IIT M/IISC:

The laptop, when produced, will prove to be a breakthrough device that could solve the problems of low computer literacy and e-learning not only in India, but also the world over – HRD Ministry.[via]

Not sure how much of this is feasible, but if it is, it can potentially drive everyone crazy!!

India earlier rejected OLPC’s proposal which was later taken by Reliance’s ADAG group.

Update: As Mukul pointed out, the Indian govt. has issued fresh statement stating that the laptop will be priced @ $100.

What’er be the price, a homegrown solution is more acceptable and welcoming and hopefully will have local language keyboard as well.
