According to a report, India’s Internet growth rate has come to a sudden halt and is expected to further slow-down.
Growth in internet user base is slated to come down for the second consecutive financial year — 2018-19 growth rate will be even less than the 8% witnessed in 2017-18, which was a sharp drop from 2016-17’s 12%.
Issues like affordability and lack of vernacular content are cited as the major reason why internet penetration has slowed down, even though more than half of the country’s population is still not online.
As per IAMAI, digital commerce usage is also not growing in the country, which puts the number of active online shoppers at just around 50 million.
