Data: Newspaper readership in India grows by 40%; Dainik Jagran leads the race

The Indian Readership Survey (IRS) 2017 released after almost four years has revealed that newspapers total readership has grown by 40% and 11 crore new readers have been added.

Dainik Jagran is the top read publication in India with total readership (last 1 month read) of over 7 crore. The second and third most read publications in all languages are Hindustan and Amar Ujala with over 5.2 crore and 4.6 crore respectively.

In English language publications, The Times of India is the top ranking publication in readership with over 1.3 crore readership, while Hindustan Times with over 68 lakhs readership is the second most read English newspaper with The Hindu English securing third position with a readership of over 53 lakhs. ET stands at 31 lakhs.
