Reimagined: Indian gods with dark skin (can we stop our obsession with white skin?)
By depicting Gods we revere as dark-skinned, this initiative aims to celebrate a different view of their divinity, serenity and all pervasive beauty by going beyond perceptions.
Dark is not just beautiful, but divine.
Photographer Nilesh Nil (and the crew) has re-imagined Indian gods.
No, not the ‘white skin’ gods.
In darker skin.
And is questioning our obsession with white skins.
Take a look.

Thank you, Nilesh Nil and his crew have done a great job in portraying our mythical figures from a new, much-needed perspctive. The image of the enigmatic little boy as Lord Krishna, with his rich brown skin tone, should be popularised in media, this is the true depiction, not the white-washed pictures we see currently. Please share this so more people will open their eyes to the richness and divinity of dark colour, especially important for little brown kids.
Bharathi
