Indian IT Industry: Bangalore Engineers are the Costliest in the Country

Surely a bad news for startups (not that they aren’t aware of the reality!) – Bangalore engineers,  working in product development companies collect the highest paycheck compared to their counterparts from other cities (Pune/NCR etc).

Management consulting firm, Zinnov shared it’s annual study on “Compensation and Benefits” and it seems Pune witnessed the highest salary hike (20%), while the average salary increase stands at just 14%.

I do agree that things have gone a little wary in the last few years and given the IT layoffs @TCS/IBM, salary figures might get back on track.

At the same time, if US is heading towards recession, more product cos. will run to India and “bid” for the best talent (which in my humble opinion is very very limited!).

I know for sure that the worst hit from salary shootup is the Indian Startup community – finding and retaining talent is really tough, especially when they are competing with global brand$.
