The Indian smartphone market is growing at a scorching pace. For the first time ever, feature phones showed negative growth in sales. According to latest numbers released by Cyber Media Research, the Indian smartphones market saw a rise in shipments by 152.3% in the July-September quarter, as compared to the corresponding quarter last year.
Smartphones now comprise of 17.6% of total mobile handset shipments. Here are some other findings of the report.
- Smartphone shipments crossed 11.1 million units
- Samsung still the market leader in smartphones category with Micromax and Karbonn at #2 and #3, respectively.
- Top 3 vendors make up nearly 63.1% of the total smartphone shipments.
- Feature phone segment witnesses the first ever negative growth in shipments in the India Mobile handsets market.
According to CMR’s India Mobile Handsets Market Review, 3Q 2013, India saw 62.9 million mobile handset shipments between July- September 2013.
