Infosys is planning to turn its Mysore campus as a smart city utilizing its expertise in infrastructure planning and sustainable building technology.
The retrofitting of its Mysore campus will minimize resource and energy consumption, increase the use of renewable energy and reduce and manage waste more efficiently. The campus will be the first to achieve zero waste to landfill sustainability, with the company targeting April 2015 as the deadline for the conversion.
“…our model ecosystem at Mysore will serve as a live, replicable example of smart city innovations that will harness all the advantages of digitization. These technologies promise to revolutionize the physical spaces we inhabit,” said Vishal Sikka, MD of Infosys.
Infosys’ smart city concept will utilize radiant cooling, day lighting and effective retrofit strategies to reduce its energy consumption. Infosys has also setup a command center in Bangalore from where resource usage across its centers in India can be monitored and managed.
