IOC finds an innovative solution to replace Li-ion batteries in EVs

Indian Oil Corporation is looking to build metal-air batteries which will oxidise metals like Iron, Zinc and Aluminium to produce energy.

These batteries aim at reducing dependency on Li-ion imports. IOC claims that these new batteries will offer up to 500KMs range, which is almost double than what the Li-ion ones can offer.

Once the metal plates are oxidized, users will need to visit the swapping station to replace the metal-plates. The oxidised metal processed can be processed again, making this a recyclable energy source.
