iPad Mini Pre-ordering starts in India (unofficially) : 16GB priced at INR 26,990

After months of speculations on whether Apple would finally cave-in and release a smaller version iPad – a device that is single handedly responsible for creating a new category of the computing devices, Apple released the smaller sized iPad standing at 7.9” and unimaginatively called the iPad Mini.

In a market that is still trying to finding is mojo with the perfect size for a tablet computing device, we have seen everything ranging from the phablet Samsung Note to 7” inch devices from the likes of Google, Amazon and B&N fast leaving the retail shelves. It was not long before Apple felt the potential of this category.

iPad Mini is no way cheap, unlike the other 7” devices which begin around $199 ( INR 11,000 ), the Mini begins with a base price of  $329 ( INR 18,000 ) The build has been widely touted to be far superior to that of other 7” device and it has received glowing reviews in the tech community. The sore point for many has been the non-retina display for the iPad Mini, something that the new users might not notice, but those used to the iPad 3’s display may find it cringe worthy.

Tradus India has begun taking the advance booking for the iPad Mini, and the prices listed by them as forth. For the 16GB Wi-fi ( Black and Slate ) you will shell out INR 26,990; followed by the 32GB Wi-Fi ( White and Silver ) for INR 34,990 and lastly the top end 64GB Wi-Fi ( Black and Slate ) for a whopping INR 43,490.

Something to be noted here is that the prices are a premium that the users will be paying for buying them through Tradus. Though there seems to be no Wi-Fi+Cellular option available right now, we are already hearing news of the devices being available at other e-commerce portals for slightly lesser prices. Your best bet may still may be to coax your family members living abroad, but seeing the waiting period that too doesn’t seem to be happening anytime soon.
